Welcome to Speech Games
Fun activities to practice speaking, storytelling, and confidence.
Use these games in class, at home, or with friends to improve public speaking, vocabulary, and quick thinking—without it feeling like homework.
Speech games you can play
1. One-Minute Story
Pick a random topic and speak about it for exactly one minute without stopping. Try to keep eye contact and avoid saying “um” or “uh”.
- Goal: Practice fluency and confidence.
- Variation: Add a timer and a “no filler words” challenge.
2. Pass-the-Story
One person starts a story with one sentence. Each person adds one sentence to continue the story. Keep going until you reach an ending.
- Goal: Practice listening and building on others’ ideas.
- Variation: Add a theme like “space”, “mystery”, or “school”.
3. No-Stop Debate
Choose a silly topic (e.g., “Cats vs. Dogs”, “Summer vs. Winter”). Each player has 30 seconds to argue their side without pausing.
- Goal: Practice persuasive speaking and thinking fast.
- Variation: Switch sides halfway through.

Tips for better speaking
- Breathe: Take a deep breath before you start.
- Slow down: Speaking a little slower makes you sound clearer and more confident.
- Look up: Pretend you’re talking to a friend, not reading a script.
- Practice: The more you play, the easier it feels.
